Information Needed for Recommendation Letters
In order to help your teachers write a letter that is geared specifically toward you, it is extremely beneficial to create an academic resume that highlights your accomplishments.
On this academic resume it is a good idea to list the following:

- Is this for a particular scholarship?
- Is it for college entrance? (Note: if ACT score is low in a specific academic area, please get a recommendation letter from a teacher in that subject)
- Anticipated Major/Course of Study (if known)
- Academic Information
- GPA
- College Prep Classes (accelerated, CAPP, AP)
- Any elective classes geared toward your academic/career goal
- Extracurriculars/Co-Curriculars
- Activities
- Positions held (if applicable)
- Years involved
- Brief descriptions of what you did (as needed)
- Service Learning/Community Service
- Where?
- How many hours?
- Brief descriptions of what you did
- Employment History
- Where?
- How long?
- Brief descriptions of what your job entails/entailed
- Leadership Positions
- For what?

- Brief descriptions of what you did

PLEASE NOTE: It is respectful if you request a letter at least 2 weeks before you need it. Additionally, it is also respectful to follow up with a “thank you.”
