Students at Maplewood Middle School have the opportunity to be inducted in the National Junior Honor Society.  In order to be considered for induction, the students must be in seventh or eighth grade, demonstrated proficiency, be a positive role model both in and out of school, and have the support from their teachers. 

Once the above criteria are met, the child will receive a letter and student information sheet.  He/she must prove that he/she demonstrates the qualities of leadership, service, character, and citizenship by listing activities, clubs, musical groups, etc. and major accomplishments.

National Junior Honor Society Members from the previous year must complete TWO service activities in order to be inducted for a second year. This year, nominees had the opportunity to ring bells for the Salvation Army, Make Valentine's cards for a local nursing home, to volunteer in Maplewood's LMC, etc. 

Calendar of Events

• Late February = Letters/Information sheets were given during the school day!
• March 9 = Information Sheets turned in!  If not, go see Mrs. Donovan OR Ms. Brantmeir ASAP!

• Friday, April 20 = ALL service projects must be complete!
• Week of April 23 - should receive a letter confirming your nomination! 

If you did NOT complete your service projects, you have three more chances listed below:

• Thursday, April 26 - Earth Clean up Day @ 2:45
• Friday, April 27 - Bring in 4 Brown Bags of clothing OR 1 garbage bag to Mrs. Rankin's Room, 111.
• Emergency Shelter - TBA

• Tuesday, May 15, 2012 @ 7:00 = NJHS Ceremony - Maplewood Large Gym
• Practice will be held on May 15 during the school day (7th hour and Connections)
• Nominees/Members be at school by 6:15!
• Thursday, May 17 Timber Rattlers Game for 8th Grade NJHS Members
